Services

TeleRadiology - Enables physicians to seek primary and secondary diagnosis of radiological images, such as X-ray films, computed tomography ("CT") , magnetic resonance imaging ("MRI") scans and ultrasound imaging. WorldCare's teleradiology services are designed to be user friendly; customers may utilise teleradiology to access the expertise of prominent medical institutions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Responses are received from within 30 minutes to 24 hours of requests. WorldCare's teleradiology services can be transmitted over any telecommunications medium ranging from asynchronous transfer mode networks to ordinary telephone lines.

Patient Management Consultation - Consultations or second opinions with specialist clinicians within WorldCare's Consortium to provide diagnosis and appropriate patient management and treatment strategies.
The referring physician sends the

  • medical history

  • x-rays and other images

  • pathology slides and other elements of the medical record

to the local WorldCare acquisition site, which transmits the information via telephone communications to the WorldCare Network Operations Center. The NOC routes the information to the appropriate specialist - clinician at a Consortium institution. Based upon his review, the specialist clinician recommends the steps required for further diagnosis or the necessary treatment.

TeleCardiology - Consultations are possible through the transmission of radiographs, ECG's, laboratory results and medical history. However, to further broaden the scope of this service, WorldCare is planning to introduce an electronic stethoscope to capture heart and lung sounds. In addition, where sufficient bandwidth permits, WorldCare plans to begin transmitting echocardiograms and coronary arteriograms for interpretation.

TeleDermatology - Using high-resolution digital cameras, it is possible to acquire images of focal skin lesions or of rashes which can be transmitted to a dermatologist for interpretation. At a resolution of 3.5 megapixels to 5 megapixels, the images can be sized from 640x480 pixels to 1024x768 pixels.

TelePathology - To provide physicians with expert secondary diagnostic analyses of images taken from histopathological slides.  The use of digital microscopes, coupled with the capture technology in OpenMed™ Capture allows the acquisition of pathological slide images for remote reading of pathological slides. Further research into telemetry and remotely controllable microscopes would herald depth control and magnification adjustment into this acquisition modality.
